All I know is that my wife always wanted to visit Colonial Williamsburg, VA. We both had heard how nice the colonial exhibits are and that is a must visit if you like history. We went this week and we were not disappointed; a beautiful place with many original buildings from colonial America that are very well preserved for us to see and enjoy. The sense of history as you go through this place is amazing. Knowing that the framers of the declaration of independence spent a great deal of time in many of the building you visit is amazing. I definite recommendation for those who have not yet visited. We also visited the Berkley Plantation home of Col. Benjamin Harrison and the place where the first “official” Thanksgiving took place (click on link for more info); we really enjoyed the tour – highly recommended.

A few pictures from our San Antonio trip. Must admit, thought the Alamo building (church facade) you always see was in the wilderness surrounded by nothing much. Well, it is in the heart of San Antonio. Great Mexican food, and the canal with shops and restaurants is really nice. Ah, yes, there was a huge Anime convention going on…a few form some of the best costumes we saw.

Saw my wife relaxing on a chair and took some candid pictures of her. She is not too keen on having her picture taken, but seem she was agreeable during this brief session. Decided to make then B&W, this it gives them a nicer feel and look. I like them all, I think she looks great. Love you baby!

Victoria’s Last Session

We all enjoyed our time with Victoria last week. We had a full house for 10 days; they went by so fast. Victoria seems to be a natural model; fun, very good nature and knows when to smile…just enough to make the capture great. Here are a few samples of our last session with her. She is getting a lot more mobile so it was a bit more challenging to keep her within the background.

Hot and humid day at the Fort Wayne Zoo. The whole family made it and we had fun looking around the new areas of the zoo. For a small city, this zoo is very nice. Francesca really enjoyed herself with the sea lions and feeding the goats at the farm. Victoria will not remember this day since she is only 7 moths old, but have plenty of pictures to show her when she gets older. While riding my bicycle early today I came across a group of tents with a group of re-enactors. They were camping next the the “Fort” (recreation of the original Fort the settlers in Fort Wayne – for more info click HERE). It was early in the morning so they were preparing breakfast. They were cooking nice thick bacon and pancakes in cast iron skillets over a hard wood fire. The aroma was great! Hope you enjoy your weekend!.

Victoria’s Last Day

Victoria will be going back home tomorrow; we are going to miss her a lot. She has been a joy to have around. Below are some of the pictures I took of her today. She turned 6 months on June 19th. She is almost crawling and will be a tough one to catch in a week or so. Thanks for looking.

Victoria’s Visit

We are having lots of fun with our great niece Victoria. Victoria will be staying with us for just about three weeks. Today she turns 6 months and her mom (our niece Rafaela) misses her terribly. Rafaela asked us to watch her while she completes a two week training course in the U.S. Army – we are very proud of her for all her contributions to this country (while in Iraq and in her current US base). Below are a few snap shots I took of Victoria this week. She is so, so good. A true pleasure to have with us.

Rome – The Eternal City

My daughter Sarah just returned from a two week trip to Italy. The trip was organized by her college and she had lots of fun; specially with the food. She spent a week in Florence and a week in Rom. Been to Rome, have not make it to Florence yet, but hope to do it in a couple of years. I am posting a few pictures from Rome I took during my 2008 visit; must return soon. What a place, really need a few weeks to get to know it a bit. The history is just amazing and taking the guided tours is highly recommended; specially the two hour guided tour of the Colosseum.

A view of the river Tiber and on the left the Saint Angelo castle. It dates back to the Roman period but has been radically transformed over the centuries.The castle was built in 123 AD as a monument tomb to eventually house the ashes of emperor Hadrian. The Roman Colosseum. All I can say is WOW! One of my very favorite sites in the old city. Took the two hour tour and was amazed at the history of this building. As most know, it was used for many things, but most notorious was it's use to entertain the roman populous with horrific bloody games and, many believe Christians were martyred in it. Hard to believe that it was inaugurated in 80 AD and was used until 523 AD. For more detail information please click picture.

Took this image while in Saint Peter's square. Saw this view between some of the many columns that flank the square and liked what I saw.

Saint Peter's Basilica; a very impressive building. Climbed up to the church's cupola and took this view of the square from the very top of it. For details on the basilica please click on picture.

The Vatican Swiss Guards - serve as bodyguards, ceremonial guards and palace guards at foreign European court since the late 15Th century...for more information click on picture. They really do not mode. Stood in front of this guard for quite a while before taking this picture; not a single flinch.
